You walk through the valley outside of your hometown for a distance until you see an opening in a nearby hill. Here is where the creepy prophetess lives. Her name was Sibyl or something. She was supposedly ancient. Apollo gave her a year of life for each grain of sand in pile of which there was a thousand, hoping to make the girl his lover. In the other words, she’s old and creepy. After telling her about your quest, the lady begins to spasm and wiggle around like she is having a seizure. You find it mildly entertaining at first, but you soon tune her out. When you snap back to reality you had totally ignored everything she had to say about your destiny and your quest. Seeing the expression on your face the Sibyl sighs and orders you to go and fetch a golden stick. Persephone likes them apparently. So, your quest to return your nameless friend to the land of the living has become a quest to retrieve the golden stick.
You search around the valley for a while. How hard can it be to find a stick made of gold? This is ancient Greece/Italy after all. Soon enough you do find the golden stick, but there is a catch. The stick won’t go with just any hero. Only the heroes with a suitable plot might gain its aid. The stick asks you three questions. Your name and favorite color are easy enough to answer, but your quest… You have a feeling that going to the underworld to save your good-for-nothing nameless best friend wouldn’t be a good enough answer for the almighty stick. This would be a perfect time to bring up your oh-so-tragic past…
WELL, IT WAS TOWARDS THE END OF THE TROJAN WAR... (must have a Tragic Past)
